This Week's Recap

Celebrating Literacy with Read Across America Week!

We had great participation for our Read Across America dress-up days! It was really exciting to see the incredible creativity displayed by both our students and staff throughout the week. Thank you for making "Read Week" so memorable.

🧥 Lost and Found Reminder
Our Lost and Found is currently overflowing with items waiting to be claimed.

Please encourage your student to check the bins and pick up anything that belongs to them.

Any items remaining by Friday, March 13, will be donated to a local charity.

🗓️ The Final Push to Spring Break
We have just one more week of school before Spring Break (March 16–20). We still have a lot of learning to accomplish before the holiday!

  • Attendance Matters: Please ensure your child attends school every day and continues to work hard as we head into our last week before Spring Break.

  • Report Cards: A reminder that Trimester 2 Report Cards were sent home today, March 6. Please check your child's backpack for the report card envelope.

Volunteers Needed: LEGO League Expo

Kuna School District is excited to host our district-wide elementary school LEGO League Explore Expo, and we need your help to make it a success! We are looking for 30 judges to help celebrate the hard work of approximately 35 teams from across our six elementary schools.

As a judge, you’ll get to:
  • Interview teams about their LEGO models and research posters.
  • Provide positive feedback to inspire students' interest in STEM.
  • Celebrate the creativity and technical skills of our young roboticists.

No prior robotics experience is necessary! We will provide all the training and materials you need on the morning of the event. We just need your time, encouragement, and curiosity.

AVID Strategies for Trimester 3 and Beyond

As we reach the end of Trimester 2 and look toward Spring Break, we are incredibly proud of the hard work our Cheetahs have put into their learning. To ensure every student finishes the year with confidence, we are leaning heavily into our AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) strategies.

AVID isn’t just a program; it is a way of thinking that helps students develop the high-level skills they need for middle school, high school, and life. Here is how we are "pushing through" to Spring Break using the WICOR framework (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading).

Cell Phone and SMART Devices

Reed is a learning zone. We want to have uninterrupted instruction time and we want kids to be able to play with each other.

For that reason, we have any student with a cell phones or a smart device turn them off and leave them in their backpacks during the school day (except for documented medical uses).

Smart watches can be used as watches or tools (example: the calculator function), but not as a cell phone (example: texting).

If a student is using their phone or smart watch while on campus, we have them bring it to the office for the rest of the day. If they do it a second time, we have them bring it to the office and keep it there for a parent to pick up.

Please help us protect instruction and social interaction time.

Picking Up Students Early

Just a friendly reminder....

If you need to pick up your child early, please call the office by 2:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and by 12:30 PM on Wednesdays.

This allows us enough time to locate your child, as schedules often change throughout the day and students may be in specials, recess, or other activities. Calling ahead ensures your child is ready and waiting when you arrive.

Thank you for your cooperation and helping us keep dismissal smooth and safe for all students!

Food Service and Food Allergies Information

Our Child Nutrition Program (CNP) is sharing this reminder about procedures regarding student food allergies and account information:

Allergy Accommodations
  • A current medical statement must be on file in order to accommodate any meal-related allergies.
  • Without this documentation, we cannot provide allergy accommodations.
Following Medical Statements
  • When a medical statement is on file, we must follow it exactly as written.
  • Any changes or deviations require updated documentation from the parent or guardian."

The CNP website is listed below. The form is called Meal Accommodation Form. It is available in English and Spanish.
