Welcome Back & Talent Show Highlights

As we returned from Spring Break, it was wonderful to see students enjoying the week's activities, soaking up the sunshine, and reconnecting with friends.

Today, our PTO hosted the Reed Elementary Talent Show, and what an impressive group of performers we had! We were so excited to see such a wide variety of acts. A huge thank you to:
  • Our PTO for sponsoring and organizing the event.
  • Ms. Baker for running the sound and keeping the show moving.
  • Our Performers for having the courage to showcase and share their incredible talents.
  • Our Parents for supporting our students' creativity and encouraging them to share it with others.

A Royal Wedding for Kindergarten!

Our Kindergarten classrooms were filled with excitement this week as we celebrated the Wedding of Q and U!

To help our youngest learners remember that these two letters are "best friends" who are almost always seen together in words, students participated in a formal ceremony. There were decorations, "fancy" attire, and plenty of practice spelling words like quick, quiet, and quilt. It was a joyful way to bring phonics to life and celebrate our students' growing reading skills!

Volunteers Needed: LEGO League Expo

Kuna School District is excited to host our district-wide elementary school LEGO League Explore Expo, and we need your help to make it a success! We are looking for 30 judges to help celebrate the hard work of approximately 35 teams from across our six elementary schools.

As a judge, you’ll get to:
  • Interview teams about their LEGO models and research posters.
  • Provide positive feedback to inspire students' interest in STEM.
  • Celebrate the creativity and technical skills of our young roboticists.

No prior robotics experience is necessary! We will provide all the training and materials you need on the morning of the event. We just need your time, encouragement, and curiosity.

Event Details
  • Location: Kuna Middle School
  • Date: Saturday, April 12, 2026
  • Time Commitment: 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM
We are currently looking for community volunteers to help us bring this event to life and show our students that their community is invested in their success. Your support makes a meaningful difference, and we truly appreciate everything you do for the students in Kuna.

If you are interested in volunteering please use the link below and if you have any questions, please contact Chris Dixon at cmdixon@kunaschools.org or reach out to your local elementary school.

Thank you again for your continued support—we look forward to working together to make this year’s Expo a wonderful experience for our students!

AVID: Returning From Spring Break

The "Individual Determination" Piece

The most important part of AVID is the Individual Determination. We empower students to take ownership of their own learning. When a student believes they can succeed and has the tools to do it, there is no limit to what they can achieve!

Tip for Families: You can support AVID at home by asking your child, "What was the best question you asked today?" or by helping them keep their school folders organized.

Cell Phone and SMART Devices

Reed is a learning zone. We want to have uninterrupted instruction time and we want kids to be able to play with each other.

For that reason, we have any student with a cell phones or a smart device turn them off and leave them in their backpacks during the school day (except for documented medical uses).

Smart watches can be used as watches or tools (example: the calculator function), but not as a cell phone (example: texting).

If a student is using their phone or smart watch while on campus, we have them bring it to the office for the rest of the day. If they do it a second time, we have them bring it to the office and keep it there for a parent to pick up.

Please help us protect instruction and social interaction time.

Picking Up Students Early

Just a friendly reminder....

If you need to pick up your child early, please call the office by 2:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and by 12:30 PM on Wednesdays.

This allows us enough time to locate your child, as schedules often change throughout the day and students may be in specials, recess, or other activities. Calling ahead ensures your child is ready and waiting when you arrive.

Thank you for your cooperation and helping us keep dismissal smooth and safe for all students!

Food Service and Food Allergies Information

Our Child Nutrition Program (CNP) is sharing this reminder about procedures regarding student food allergies and account information:

Allergy Accommodations
  • A current medical statement must be on file in order to accommodate any meal-related allergies.
  • Without this documentation, we cannot provide allergy accommodations.
Following Medical Statements
  • When a medical statement is on file, we must follow it exactly as written.
  • Any changes or deviations require updated documentation from the parent or guardian."

The CNP website is listed below. The form is called Meal Accommodation Form. It is available in English and Spanish.
