Preparing for Success: State Testing Next Week!

As we head into next week, our 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students will begin participating in our annual ISAT testing. These assessments are a chance for our Cheetahs to show off all the incredible growth and hard work they’ve put in this year!

We want every student to feel confident and ready to do their best. To help them shine, please keep these top testing tips in mind:

Get a Good Night’s Sleep: Aim for 8-10 hours so they wake up refreshed.

Eat a Healthy Breakfast: Fuel the brain with a nutritious start to the morning.

Arrive on Time: Being at school on time helps students stay calm and avoid a rushed start.

Have a Positive Attitude: Remind your student to believe in themselves—they’ve got this!

Give Your Best Effort: We aren't looking for perfection, just their finest work.

Take Your Time: Encourage them to read carefully and check their work without rushing.

Thank you for your continued support in making testing week a positive experience for our students. We are so proud of our hard-working Cheetahs!

AVID: Things to do at home

As assessment season begins, AVID strategies are being used to help students stay organized and focused. You can support this at home with the following activities:
  • The "Teach-Back" Method: Ask your student to "teach" you one concept they reviewed in class today. Teaching others is one of the most effective AVID strategies for mastering a topic and building confidence.
  • Building the "Toolbox": Help your child identify which tools they need for success. This includes ensuring they have a consistent routine, a good night's sleep, and a healthy breakfast on testing days.
  • Organization and Goal Setting: Discuss how your student is using their AVID strategies (like focused note-taking or organization) to keep track of their spring projects and upcoming assessments.

Just a friendly reminder....

If you need to pick up your child early, please call the office by 2:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and by 12:30 PM on Wednesdays.

This allows us enough time to locate your child, as schedules often change throughout the day and students may be in specials, recess, or other activities. Calling ahead ensures your child is ready and waiting when you arrive.

Thank you for your cooperation and helping us keep dismissal smooth and safe for all students!
