Next week is Kindness Week, and Friday, November 13th is World Kindness Day! We invite all students to participate in our Kindness Spirit Week as we highlight acts of kindness across our school.
Special "orange spots" will be given to students who show kindness and demonstrate the true meaning of being a Cheetah. We will hold daily drawings from Tuesday through Friday for those who have earned orange spots.
Thank you for helping us make Kindness Week a success!

Dear Cheetah Families,
Our school is sponsoring a basket for the upcoming Kuna Education Foundation fundraiser, supporting local teachers and classrooms! The funds are used to grant scholarships to KSD staff who submit grant applications for materials to enhance the learning experience for students in their classrooms and for the monthly Bridge Grant awarded to teachers.
Reed's theme: Sensational Sweets!
We need your help—please consider donating an item that fits the theme.
Contributions are due any time NOVEMBER 5 - NOVEMBER 13
Drop-off: REED ELEMENTARY
Baskets will then be auctioned off online November 27 through December 5.
Tax-deductible receipts are available from KEF. You may contact Mary Stewart ( kunaeducationfoundation@gmail.com) for more information on KEF or to request the receipt for your donation.

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) helps students build strong organization, critical thinking, and study habits that set them up for long-term success. Here are simple ways you can support your child's growth at home:
-
Build Organization Routines: Check your child's binder and planner together each week. Encourage them to keep papers organized by subject and clean out old or unnecessary loose sheets regularly.
-
Ask Open-Ended Questions: Instead of giving quick answers during homework, ask questions that prompt deeper thinking, such as "How did you arrive at that answer?" or "What strategy can you try next?"
-
Practice Active Reading: Encourage your child to "mark the text" when reading at home by underlining key ideas, circling unfamiliar words, and writing thoughts or questions in the margins.
-
Encourage Self-Advocacy: Guide your child to write down questions they have about their work and practice asking their teacher for help directly.
-
Set & Reflect on Goals: Help your child set small, realistic goals for the week (e.g., reading 20 minutes a day or completing homework on time) and celebrate their effort and progress.

Reed is a learning zone. We strive to have uninterrupted instruction time and we want kids to be able to play with each other.
For that reason, we have any students with cell phones turn them off/silence and leave them in their backpacks during the school day (except for medical uses). Smart watches can be used as watches or tools (example: the calculator function), but not as a cell phone (example: texting).
If a student is using their phone or smart watch while on campus, we have them bring it to the office for the rest of the day. If they do it a second time, we have them bring it to the office and keep it there for a parent to pick up.
Please help us protect instruction and social interaction time for our Cheetahs!
